You decide to finally start that online business! Well, it's a side-hustle for now. Which is great. This gives you time to figure all of this out. You do a quick Google search about how to actually do this online biz stuff.

Three hours later after you've gone down the rabbit hole...

15 blog posts read, followed by a Youtube marathon that would make your head spin... you notice it seemed like everyone was email marketing.

What is Email marketing?

Simply put, email marketing is using email to educate, nurture, grow and yes, sell to your audience. And contrary to some of the so called gurus, email is not dead! In fact, you'll find that the more you grow your list, the more profitable your business (or side hustle) will be.

Alright, now that you know you should be marketing with email. You might be wondering how to get started. I'm going to show you how to easily do this in 3 simple steps.

STEP 1: Find an email service provider.

Before you go down another rabbit hole of searching for one (and there are tons!) just pick one. Personally I use Kit but I started out with Flodesk. Both are simple to use.

Flodesk has beautiful designs and is very user-friendly. Kit (formerly known as convertkit) has more segmenting and tagging features.

Also, they're both affordable options for a newbie to this email thing.

STEP 2: Create an Irresistible Offer.

This is what's known as an opt-in, lead magnet, freebie, whatever you choose to call it,

Make this good!

Here's the thing, no one wants to sign up for your "newsletter" anymore. Our inboxes are already busy places. This should be something that your soul clients would go wild over. Something of immense value for them. Something that's a quick-win and that will help them to solve a problem.

Currently, my main opt-in is The Soul Client Connection Guide. I show you how to easily find your soul-clients (Ideal customers) using your astrology chart.

This doesn't have to be anything fancy. It could be as simple as a spreadsheet or checklist. Just something that your ideal customers would love and would help them to solve a problem.

STEP 3: Create a simple Landing Page

Your awesome opt-in is made. Great job!

Now you have to make it easy for your audience to get their hands on it.

The easiest way to do this is to create a simple landing page. Most email service providers will have these for you to use. This way, even if you don't have a website yet, you can still start growing your list.

A couple of tips about your landing page.

Use concise, to-the-point language.

Only have one call to action on the page.

Keep it simple.

What's next?

Great, now you have everything set up. Ideally, you'll want to have a short welcome sequence that kicks off automatically when they sign up to get you freebie.

The first one should be where you thank them and give them the link to your freebie. Maybe even tell them a bit about you and what you're about.

Now, go out there and shout it to the world about this awesome freebie you made for them. Post about it on social media, tell your friends, add it to your website.

Your job is to promote the heck out it!

And the next most important thing for you to do is NURTURE YOUR LIST!

A really great resource for knowing what and how to write emails is Liz Wilcox. She has a $9 a month membership that is all about email marketing! It's well worth the $9 investment.... trust me, I'm a member.

Yes, that is an affiliate link. This means I might earn a commission when you join using my link, but at no extra cost to you.

Here's the thing.

I know how exciting and how overwhelming it can be when you first get into this online world of doing business. There can be so much noise out there, it's hard to know what to do next, or who the real "experts" are.

My advice. Keep it simple. Take it one step at a time. Stick to the basics.

There will always be some new software or new method of doing things. But in my experience, email marketing should definitely be a thing that you're doing in your business or side-hustle.

You've got this!
